What is Wellness? Wellness is not merely the absence of illness; it is a state of complete physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is Wholeness. After being diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis aged 2, I was wheelchair-bound and head-to-toe disabled by 18. After more than a decade of intensive self-study, learning everything I could about what makes the human body & mind work and not work, I reconditioned myself back to wellness, but only after learning that I couldn’t just heal my body, I had to also heal the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of self too. If you want to heal one part of you, you have to heal the whole self. Based on this long and expansive journey, I created Reconditioned as a hub to integrate all modalities and learnings within the world of well-being in one place, and as a result, here is where you will find information on everything from nutrition and epigenetics, to conscious parenting, trauma, neuroplasticity, inner child healing, conscious relationships, intentional entrepreneurship, meditation, manifestation, spirituality and more. Whether you are suffering from chronic illness, raising children in a world of conflicting information, you‘re an entrepreneur wanting to step into your purpose or you simply want to feel empowered and motivated to become the best version of yourself, tune in as I work to uncover the most actionable ways to recondition ourselves back to wellness.

Ep. 16 - Rewilding & Down-regulating with Natural Life-Stylist, Tony Riddle
Sunday May 31, 2020
Sunday May 31, 2020
We loved recording this episode with the man who ran barefoot from Land’s End to John O Groats, the Natural Life-stylist himself, Tony Riddle. After twenty years of studying the modern condition and working on ways to free us from its constraints to achieve total wellness, Tony devised his Natural life-style philosophy as a way to recharge, reboot and re-educate on the importance of re-aligning ourselves with Nature for emotional, spiritual and physical health.
We began the episode with Tony taking us through some essential and simple breathwork that can be done daily.
The subjects that Tony teaches cover such a broad expanse of topics that we were worried about how to fit it all in! We cover the importance of down-regulating, natural sleep patterns, re-wilding, being out in nature, conscious parenting, intentional living, detoxifying and re-balancing the home and the benefits of ice baths!

Ep. 14 – Why Is Breastfeeding So Important? With Kathryn Stagg IBCLC
Sunday May 17, 2020
Sunday May 17, 2020
The UK remains one of the countries with the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world. As the previous generation began to acquiesce to the new accepted medicalised paradigm when it came to raising children, this did, unfortunately, filter down into following generations, with women choosing to breastfeed less and less. However, we are now starting to see an increase in breastfeeding again, perhaps because of the rise in the wellbeing movement alongside the access we now have to information highlighting the importance of breastfeeding for the long-term physical and emotional health of both mother and baby.
It’s a contentious subject, but one that is so important to address. If most women aren’t being made aware of the life-changing benefits of breastfeeding, perhaps they’ll make their choices based on that. As always with Healthy Happy Home, our intention is to bring you information that enables you to make decisions from a place of informed choice.
In this episode we speak to Kathryn Stagg IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). Alongside her breastfeeding support, Kathryn also offers holistic sleep support. We touch on every facet of breastfeeding, from why some mums choose not to, what problems we could encounter as new mums, how to avoid and prevent some issues, how to overcome others, what situation means a women really can’t breastfeed, the science behind what breastfeeding does for the baby and the mother, the ingredients in breastmilk and the difference between breast milk and formula. We also spoke about feeding twins and triplets, as Kathryn supports many women feeding multiples, through her Facebook group and charity, Breastfeeding Twins and Triplets UK.
For any expectant mothers listening, this episode will help you understand the nuances behind this much-debated subject, and will hopefully help you to make a decision you are happy with.

We were honoured to have Dr Nyjon Eccles on the show today. Following his double doctorates (Medicine and Pharmacology) Dr. Eccles has worked as a general and natural medicine physician with special interest in supportive nutritional treatments that promote well-being, recovery and anti-ageing. He is also one of UK’s leading experts in bio-identical hormones.
As the medical Director of The Natural Doctor in Harley Street, London, he has become one of Europe’s leading clinicians involved in Breast Thermography as a non-evasive tool for early detection of breast cancer and for this purpose has developed ThermoCheck®, a computer-assisted Breast Thermography system. He is listed in the “Who’s Who” in the World for outstanding achievement in his field.
In this episode Dr Eccles speaks to us about the importance of a proactive approach to breast cancer prevention, by learning what our bodies need in order to keep our breasts healthy. He talks us through his innovative ThermoCheck breast thermography screening, that can detect breast cancer cells 6-10 years before a mammogram would be able to, without any of the myriad risks associated with mammography.
Dr Eccles also talks us through his bio-identical hormone treatment – the natural version of HRT. With millions of women suffering not just because of menopause symptoms but more so because of the hormone replacement treatment they are offered (whose associated risks include breast cancer), it is imperative that an alternative option is available.
This discussion opens up so many burning questions we all have surrounding female health, and Dr Eccles and his team were kind enough to offer listeners of Healthy Happy Home a 15% discount, using the code HHH0705.
Some things we spoke about that might be useful:
The risks associated with mammograms
Study linking aluminium in vaccines to autism
Bras - wear without underwire
Suggested vitamin d dosage for support during pandemic 4-5000IU
What are we into:
Lauren: CBD
Tilly: Homemade sourdough, supplements such as Vitamin D and Iodine
Dr Eccles: video D

This episode was recorded just before the Covid-19 lockdown began, as the pandemic was starting to become bigger news. We released the previous 2 episodes of the season before this one, even though it was recorded before, as they were recorded during lockdown and we wanted things to be very relevant for our listeners during life in the midst of this new normal.
However, we are so excited about this episode as it really sums up one large facet of what Healthy Happy Home is all about – a root cause, individualised approach to healthcare, which of course can be applied to life during a pandemic to help our bodies cope but – and perhaps even more importantly – during regular life, as this is what an integrative approach to healthcare is; boosting immune system year round to ensure optimum health.
We speak to Debbie Lewis, Lauren’s personal functional medicine doctor, to get a deeper understanding of what a functional approach to healthcare really means, and how we can all incorporate the basics into our lives to be able to drastically improve health and reduce likelihood of chronic disease.
Debbie is a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine and is a Registered Nutritional Therapist with The British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT). She runs private clinics in London and Hereford and has a particular interest in women and children’s health.
Debbie is also a qualified Social Worker, Natural Family Planning Teacher, Auricular Acupuncturist, Life Coach and NLP Practitioner. She is a visiting lecturer in Functional Medicine and complex case analysis on the Nutritional Therapy MSc at the University of Worcester, a clinical practice assessor and the regional British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine supervisor. Basically, if you are unwell, she’s the person you want to see for a complete holistic and integrative approach!
As we recorded this just before the UK went into lockdown, we touch on Covid-19, but also tried to make the episode relevant for when the pandemic hopefully passes, and we can all focus on restoring our health.

We recorded this episode during the third week of enforced lockdown during the Covid-19 crisis. A lot of fear and anxiety are circulating our atmosphere right now, and we believe that life-changing decisions should never be made from a place of darkness, so, though we had started recording this season a while ago, we have decided to rejig things a bit to make the topics more relevant and record right in the midst of the crisis, in the hope of offering practical solutions, perhaps ease some anxieties, and to encourage a sense of equilibrium amidst the chaos.
We have chosen topics which we feel people may need guidance on right now, with guests who are experts in their fields, but the topics we’ve chosen will also be relevant for once this is all over, in case you’re listening to this once life has resumed.
Of course all this means that we’re recording remotely, so please excuse the odd technical glitch as we figure out what the hell we’re doing! Either way, we hope we can bring you some peace of mind, or, at the very least, an escape from our current reality.
Today’s guest was Dr Gowri Motha, London-based childbirth pioneer and founder of the Gentle Birthing Method (and author of a book of the same name). Dr Motha was the doctor who introduced water births to the NHS and documented the first UK water birth in the 1980s. Her programmes of classes, key treatments, and dietary guidelines during pregnancy all the way to birth are world-renowned and here we speak to her about how to navigate informed choice and plans for peaceful births during a global pandemic that is making that more difficult, how the mind is the biggest factor in childbirth, and what mothers can do to ensure a peaceful birth, no matter what situation they are in, and why that is important.
If you are pregnant now, this will be especially helpful for you, but even if you are listening to this once the pandemic is over, all the tips, suggestions and tools that Dr Motha offers will help to improve your birth outcome.
You can find Dr Motha at www.gentlebirthmethod.com and her Instagram @gentlebirthmethod.

As we record this, we are in the very midst of the Covid-19 crisis. Here in the UK we are on week 2 of enforced lockdown and while the mainstream media feed us nothing but fear, we’re left wondering if any of the myriad conspiracy theories are true, if the mainstream media have any of it right, or if we really are as much in the dark as we feel we are. What we do know is that people are witnessing a lot of suffering – both physical and emotional, and though many of us are finding the light beyond the shadow and the life-changing positives that are coming out of this, some people are still shrouded by a lot of tragedy and some people are feeling very lost, anxious and vulnerable.
We began recording season 2 before this all started, and based on the energy at the time, we decided to put the podcast on hold. We were worried about not being able to continue recording as a duo, or meet our guests in person, and felt that releasing episodes that had been pre-recorded and weren’t currently relevant might be inappropriate.
But then we realised that that was crazy! More than ever, people are seeking a connection to wellness – in all aspects of the word – as we navigate these testing times, and that’s exactly what we started this podcast for; to bring information about wellness to the forefront and make it more accessible. So we will be recording this season from our own homes, remotely, and our guests will be joining us in the same way. It won’t be perfect, there may be some glitches along the way, but we felt very strongly about bringing you current, relevant, pragmatic and uplifting information to help ease us through this challenging time.
There was one, very special person who came to mind when we thought about how we could possibly kick off a season in such circumstance. More so than medical doctors or even holistic health practitioners, we feel that people are in real need of spiritual and emotional guidance.
To that end, we were truly honoured to have spoken to Chloe Garcia Ponce, a Mexican healer, or Curandera, medicine woman, or perhaps shaman, with gifts too complex and special for us to be able to befittingly articulate here and do her justice, so do listen on to hear how she guides us in how to help our children through this time, why fear will harm us, how we can support those grieving, and how we need to now look to the plant kingdom for guidance. It is a truly illuminative and expansive episode right in the height of such profound change and anyone listening will surely benefit from Chloe’s teachings.
You can find Chloe at http://nomadicsonglines.com/ and her Instagram @nomadicsonglines.
What are we into:
Chloe: getting back into the kitchen, making food, tinctures and medicines again
Lauren: learning the names of plants and trees, having more plants at home
Tilly: playing board games and card games at home

In this truly illuminative and powerful episode, we speak to Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer, authors of Wild Power and founders of Red School, about the importance of reconnecting with our feminine power.
The menstrual cycle is a vital and vitalizing system in the female body, and prior to the Abrahamic religions, a woman’s menstruating body was viewed as sacred and full of power. But in recent history our understanding of and respect for this process has become limited and distorted. We have been taught to be ashamed on our blood flow and, as a result, few women really know about the physiology of their cycle. Early on in our womanhood we are encouraged to ignore it and “just get on with it” without really tapping into its essence or the power it could offer us if approached with love and understanding.
Alexandra and Sjanie talk us through the extraordinary benefits of charting our cycles and how, by doing that, we connect back in with the sacredness of our female bodies and learn to work in symbiosis with our cyclical and powerful selves.
Women of all ages will find this episode illuminating, and we would especially encourage anyone with young daughters to listen, because these teachings are truly life-changing.

In this beautifully enlightening episode, we speak to doula, hypnobirthing instructor and trainer, and birth facilitator, Dani Diosi from Mama Serene Birth about the importance of preparation for birth.
If it is true that no one would dream of entering a marathon without training, why do we, as modern women, believe that we can go into birth – one of the most challenging and transformative moments of our lives – without preparing both physically and emotionally?
We explore ways to physically prepare our bodes for the best possible birthing outcome, and talk with Dani about the misconception behind the term “hypno”birthing, and uncover with her how it is instead a way of rewiring our brains to believe we can birth our babies in the way nature intended, which we now know through extensive research, offers innumerable benefits to mother and baby, including long-term immune strength and emotional wellbeing.
Our intention with this episode is to arm women with knowledge, and thereby empower them to make decisions regarding birth based on informed choice, and to believe in their innate ability to birth their babies.

Ep. 5 - Body Positivity with Stylist and Body Positive Coach Stevie B
Monday Jan 27, 2020
Monday Jan 27, 2020
In perhaps one of our most edifying episodes for self-evolution, we talk today to Stevie B, celebrity stylist and body positive coach. We have spent the past few decades being fed the shameful and cruel narrative that if you are not an exact replica of a 90s supermodel, you are not beautiful. Thankfully for us in the lead-up to a new decade, the body positive movement was born, and it is teaching women (and men) that we do not need to be a size 10 to be beautiful, that beauty comes from a place of self-worth. But we can only achieve this state of self-worthiness if the industry that teaches us there is a specific template for beauty, gets eclipsed by a movement that proudly tells us otherwise.
After her own long and tortuous journey towards self-acceptance, Stevie is helping women to love their bodies, and thankfully for any of us who get to meet her or work with her, she’s helping us love clothes again, by having the masterful ability to dress any woman of any shape, leaving her feeling a million dollars.
A truly uplifting and inspiring conversation between three women, all with different experiences of a journey towards self-love and self-acceptance. We invite you to join us on this body positive movement! You can find Stevie on Instagram @steviebstylefashion

In the sixth and final mini-sode, we share with you Lauren's six pillars of wellbeing.
When we were researching how to make this podcast the best it could possibly be, and unique to us and our message, we realised that there are certain topics when it comes to holistic living that people really want easy and accessible information for. To that end, we decided to offer 6 “mini-sodes”: short, micro-episodes that answer your most burning questions when it comes to holistic living and parenting.
As with all the other mini-sodes, a transcript of this is available, but it comes in the form of a PDF when you enter your email address on www.laurenvaknine.co.uk.
