What is Wellness? Wellness is not merely the absence of illness; it is a state of complete physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is Wholeness. After being diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis aged 2, I was wheelchair-bound and head-to-toe disabled by 18. After more than a decade of intensive self-study, learning everything I could about what makes the human body & mind work and not work, I reconditioned myself back to wellness, but only after learning that I couldn’t just heal my body, I had to also heal the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of self too. If you want to heal one part of you, you have to heal the whole self. Based on this long and expansive journey, I created Reconditioned as a hub to integrate all modalities and learnings within the world of well-being in one place, and as a result, here is where you will find information on everything from nutrition and epigenetics, to conscious parenting, trauma, neuroplasticity, inner child healing, conscious relationships, intentional entrepreneurship, meditation, manifestation, spirituality and more. Whether you are suffering from chronic illness, raising children in a world of conflicting information, you‘re an entrepreneur wanting to step into your purpose or you simply want to feel empowered and motivated to become the best version of yourself, tune in as I work to uncover the most actionable ways to recondition ourselves back to wellness.

Ep. 27 – LEO COSENDAI, Making Meditation Accessible Through Sound Healing
Monday Nov 09, 2020
Monday Nov 09, 2020
Ever heard of ASMR – the tingling sensation you get when you listen to someone whose voice is simply hypnotic? Thats exactly what you will experience listening to today’s guest, Leo Cosendai. Not only is he a sound healing facilitator, but the sound of his own voice alone might just alter your state of consciousness; it was a struggle for me to stay coherent during the interview! (You’re welcome :) )
Aside from facilitating sound baths internationally, Leo is also an author, teacher and the founder of the number 1 sound meditation app, Third Ear, which is genuinely one of the most beautiful meditation apps. His work in making gong baths accessible worldwide has gained him recognition as a leading figure in the wellness movement.
We spoke today about what actually happens in a sound bath and why sound healing is making meditation so much more accessible. Even more exciting than that, Leo offered a sound bath from his App at the end of this episode so make sure you listen to the end!
You can find Leo on Instagram @leo.cosendai, his website www.leocosendai.com and his app, Third Ear, can be found in the Apple app store.

Today’s guest was a person I’m so grateful to have in my life; a true healer, authentic spiritualist, genuine light-worker – all of those in the most pure sense of the word, without even trying. She is one of a kind and she is Karina Grant.
Karina has been working as an energy healing practitioner for over 2 decades, performing, teaching and lecturing on modalities such as Quantum Touch, Reiki, Bio Energy and Permissioning and Transformation, as well as facilitating many successful mindfulness workshops.
Her company, HI CHI Integrated Health Institute, offers powerful resources to facilitate balance and wellness and now has its own meditation app, and in this episode we talk about healing modalities, what spirituality means to her, our own abilities to heal, how to navigate tough times and meditation.
I cannot scream from the rooftops enough how Karina has changed my life, and I know she will yours, too. She’s too powerful not to!

Dr David Clarke is president of the Psychophysiologic Disorders Association. He is also Assistant Director at the Center for Ethics and Clinical Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology Emeritus both at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon, USA, among many other impressive accomplishments, and I was fortunate enough to spend over an hour with him discussing psychophysiologic disorders.
In the 1970s, Dr John Sarno discovered that many of his back pain patients’ symptoms would disappear as soon as they acknowledged repressed emotions, and he labelled the disorder TMS (tension myositis syndrome). Countless people in severe chronic pain of all sorts benefited from his work. his theories and his books. Dr Clarke has updated those fundamental theories, using the latest research, and has renamed the condition Psychophysiologic Disorder, also known as MindBody Disorder or Stress Illness.
In this episode we talk about how repressed, unresolved or unexplored emotions can trigger a physical reaction in the body, often pain, in the form of anything from back pain, migraines and nerve issues, to gastrointestinal issues.
To date he has worked with over 7000 patients with whom he has had success with these theories, and you can hear all about it in this hugely informative, eye-opening and encouraging episode that will give hope to anyone suffering from chronic pain, even if it’s been years and you can’t imagine life without it. There is light at the end of the tunnel for chronic pain sufferers and hopefully by listening to Dr Clarke, you will be guided towards it.
You can find Dr Clarke over at PPDA and Stress Illness.

We all have ideas about the way we want to parent our children, but then they are born, each with their own unique personalities, and all our ideas get thrown out the window. But what if we could gain a deeper insight into each of our children’s individual makeups in order to adapt our parenting style to their specific needs?
That is exactly what Alex Cantone offers. Alex is a Human Design reader, but specifically tailors her business to reading children’s charts to help parents navigate their parenting journeys. If this is the first time you're hearing about Human Design, it's about to change your life! It has totally changed mine. Human Design is a concept that combines astrology, Kabbalah, the chakras, I Ching and genetics, to provide us with a blueprint for each individual person’s ‘design’ in order to give us the tools to live by our design; IE to be authentically ourselves.
In the episode Alex read my chart against my children’s, to offer me a deeper understanding into how to be able to support them based on their own needs and it was truly eye-opening. There is no greater gift than feeling as if you fully understand your child and their needs, and can therefore tailor the way you parent them based on that. I’m so excited to put this into practice and hope you will find it as fascinating as I did!
Alex kindly offered listeners of Reconditioned a discount to get a chart reading. Enter RECONDITIONED10 at www.alexcantone.com and use the discount code.

Today’s episode is with nutritionist and biochemist, Karen Hurd. After her 18-month-old daughter’s tragic poisoning, and her subsequent quest to heal her daughter, Karen came up with a method of detoxing that, simplistic as it is at its core, no one had yet thought of. Since then she has been asked to speak and teach all over the world, and she has a database of over 50,000 people who have had success from her protocols. Karen’s philosophy in approaching health is that “food has the power to kill; food has the power to heal. It’s your choice.”
In this episode we talk about the essence of lasting health, preventative medicine and nutrition. Karen’s knowledge of nutrition and the human body is astounding and she takes us through how the human body processes toxins, how disease occurs and how to remedy it.
It gets a bit science-y because of Karen’s deep understanding of these subjects, and the episode is fairly long but if you can make time, I promise you will benefit from the information!
We touch on Karen’s online courses that treat everything from autoimmune and inflammatory conditions to fertility issues, Crohn’s, thyroid problems, ADD and even cancer.

Ep. 21 – LAUREN VAKNINE, A Journey From Disability to Remission - My Story
Sunday Oct 04, 2020
Sunday Oct 04, 2020
Welcome back! Reconditioned with Lauren Vaknine was previously Healthy Happy Home with Lauren Vaknine and Tilly Wood. After 2 seasons, we decided that we could use our distinct skillsets and passions more effectively by going solo and I'm feeling very excited about really stepping into my true purpose with this podcast now, and I really think you'll all love what I have in store!
I though it was important to do an episode that explains my story, why keeping this podcast going and starting up again as Reconditioned was important for me, and why I do what I do. So here I take you back through my journey – from a 23-month-old diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, to a teenager rebelling against the world that gave me this illness, leading to a subsequent eating disorder, drugs and abuse, to ending up totally wheelchair-bound, and finally reaching my decade-long journey of intensive self-study to reach long-term remission at the age of 29.
Now a 36-year-old mother of 2, I spend my time helping others achieve their own health and happiness goals, through my writing, speaking and coaching.
It’s been a journey and a half and I want to share it with you so that you can get a full understanding of why I do what I do; why I write and speak about health and wellbeing and why I started this podcast. I hope you enjoy hearing my story and I’d love to hear your comments!

In this episode, we talk with the creator of the award-winning and game-changing documentary, Microbirth, about Lauren’s favourite subject – microbiome! We learn how and why moving away from our natural processes, we are destroying our microbiome. Increased rates in caesarean sections, lower breastfeeding rates, a steady increase in birth interventions and no skin-on-skin post-birth are all contributing factors in preventing the baby from accessing the mother’s essential microbiome – the bacteria that feeds the immune system in a process called seed and feed, a process that ensures the safe development of the child’s immune system. Overuse of antibiotics and antibacterial products is also contributing to the destruction of our collective microbiome, leaving us at risk of pandemics, something predicted in this film in 2014, which we have now seen unfurl in the form of Covid-19.
The film itself is life-changing and here we discuss how we are potentially sacrificing the very continuation of the human race with our modern ways, and how we can stop this and make changes to ensure our survival moving forward.
A hugely important episode that we urge you all to listen to and hopefully learn from.

Women and men alike will love this episode and find it SO expansive. Victoria is a Medical Herbalist and Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapist, working with clients on issues that specifically affect the abdominal and pelvic organs and has a passion in sexual health and empowerment. Inspired by her clients, Victoria is currently training to become a Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist in order to further support people with the connection between their mind and their body.
In the show we speak about the beauty of healing through Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy and about herbalism training with shamans in the Amazon rainforest, as well as why herbalism is such a beautiful & integrative healing modality. Vaginal steams were a big topic, and Victoria cleared up any misconceptions, telling us why they’re so great (which we also know from experience!). We open up the discussion around sexual health, reclaiming our sexual power, sexual identity and how we can get back to a place of sexual confidence through Victoria’s treatments, which combine both ancient and contemporary techniques for best results.
